My Story
"We are survivors and someday we will all find our fairyland, we will discover our happiness and we will tell our stories. When we stand, we stand together." - Monoliths: The Girl with Three Souls.
I am a domestic abuse survivor. For most of my life other people have controlled my narrative and stolen my voice. A common experience for those who’ve been trapped in abusive relationships. When I write, I not only write for myself but for those who have no voice.
I am equally as passionate to spread awareness for mental illnesses. Especially that of DID (dissociative identity disorder), a condition which is widely misunderstood and dehumanized in the media. Those with this condition are generally depicted as the violent villains of horror, whilst the truth is far more simple. The people who have this condition have been devastated by traumatic circumstances and deserve compassion, not hatred. Many of my stories tackle these issues with a first person perspective of what it’s like to have conditions like DID and other trauma based disorders.
Queer themes are also a prominent part of my work. In worlds of fantasy and fairies we can envision a place where queer people are free. Although I broach on topics such as discrimination, my stories have more of an entasis on hope, trans identity and queer romance.
